Officers were called to reports of a three-vehicle crash, involving a minibus and two cars, on the A82 near Luss at around 8.45am on Friday morning. Rescue crews, including an ambulance and three fire engines, were spotted racing to the scene. One person was taken by helicopter and another to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and four were taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandria Hospital. STV News understands more people have been taken to Vale of Leven Minor Injuries, but it is not known exactly how many. A family member of someone involved in the collision who was not injured said the incident was “horrendous”. Traffic Scotland said the road was closed in both directions following the serious crash, before being fully reopened at 12.50pm. An eyewitness reported that the area was “locked down”, with “coaches and heavy vehicles trying to pass each other”. McColl’s Travel told travelers that all services operating in the area are likely to be disrupted. A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 08:47 today to attend an RTC on the A82 near Luss. “We sent a number of resources to the scene, including five ambulances, our special operations team, an Ambulance Response Unit, an air ambulance and our trauma team to the scene. “We took two patients to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and four patients to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.” A spokesman for Fire and Rescue Scotland said: “We were alerted at 8.50am. on Friday, September 2, to reports of a road traffic collision on the A82 near Luss. “Operations Control mobilized three appliances and a heavy rescue unit to assist emergency service partners. “A number of victims were taken into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. “Crews are no longer on scene.” A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We received a report of a crash involving three vehicles, a minibus and two cars, on the A82 near Luss at around 8.45am. on Friday, September 2, 2022. “Emergency services attended and four people were taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment. “Two other people were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. “The restoration was arranged and the road was fully reopened at around 12.50pm. “Investigations into the crash are ongoing.” Correction: Ambulance Service Scotland initially confirmed that two patients were airlifted to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This has been updated as one person was taken by helicopter and the other was taken by ambulance.
