A crew from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue joked the incident was “rather ridiculous” after spending more than an hour trying to free the cow. The animal’s head became stuck in a tree on Chilbolton Common in Hampshire on Wednesday night. The fire service was called at approximately 7.40pm. and worked with an animal rescue consultant to cut down the tree and free the cow – but it took three hours. Image: The cow was stuck to the tree for several hours Mark Compton, who is the fire service’s regular animal rescue adviser, said: “The animal rescue crew from Winchester worked to free the cow by widening the hole and manipulating the animal’s head until it was freed from the tree.” Looking on the bright side, the fire service tweeted: “Crew worked to remove animal from willow tree again.” Two photos of the animal were released by the fire service and showed the front and back views of the trapped cow. In one photo, the cow looked pretty disappointed with herself.
