RCMP, along with fire crews responded to the scene south of Carstairs on Friday afternoon. Initially, the fire was declared out of control.
Members of the Carstairs Fire Department as well as members from the Didsbury RCMP detachment were called to assist in the situation.
Crews were also sent from Olds, Didsbury, Sundre and Cremona. Peace officers assisted the police in any possible evacuations.
All affected residents have taken refuge in the community hall in Carstairs. No injuries have been reported.
Carstairs is located approximately 65 kilometers north of Calgary.
