According to police, the shooting started in the 800 block of Arkadelphia Rd directly across from Birmingham Southern College. Dozens of shells were found at the scene. One of the vehicles involved in the shooting then crashed into another car a few blocks away. The driver, a young man, was shot and killed when police arrived. Two young children, a toddler and a toddler according to police, were in the back seat and were taken to Children’s Hospital with injuries. The female toddler is said to have suffered life-threatening injuries. It is unclear if the children were injured in the shooting or the accident. The occupants of the other car involved in the accident were also injured in the hospital. Police have no suspects in custody. It is unclear who else was involved in the shooting.
