The collision occurred at around 14:20 and involved two transport trucks. A commercial truck stopped in the northbound lanes, Peterborough County OPP said, and was then rear-ended by a truck. The truck then rear-ended a second commercial truck, police said. The lone occupant of the truck died at the scene, police said. One of the trucks landed on top of the truck. Peterborough County OPP said late Friday that the dead driver’s name will be released pending notification of next of kin. Lanes were closed while collision reconstruction officers measured and documented the scene, police said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. There are detours. It is not known how long the lanes will remain closed. The closure comes just as many headed to vacation homes in the Kawarthas for the Labor Day weekend. Investigators are asking that any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police or anyone on the dash cam of the crash contact the Peterborough County OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122. SHARE:
