At approximately 9:45 p.m., the Montreal Police Department (SPVM) received several calls that a vehicle may have crashed into pedestrians at the intersection of rue Notre-Dame and Place d’Armes in the Ville-Marie district. Police reports say the collision between three people escalated and resulted in the car hitting the other two. At some point during the altercation, the suspect allegedly went to his vehicle parked a few meters away and fell on top of the other two men in their twenties. The 44-year-old suspect was then pulled over and arrested by SPVM officers while still driving his vehicle. The two young men were slightly injured in the lower part of their bodies. They were taken to hospital, but their lives are not in danger. Investigators were expected to visit the scene to interview witnesses and view surveillance footage. “The nature of the conflict, the relationship between the parties, as well as their involvement are still unknown,” SPVM spokeswoman Marian Aller Moren said.
