Good Morning Britain news presenter Noel Phillips revealed today that he was ‘robbed, racially attacked and spat on’, leaving him ‘shaken’. Mr Phillips, GMB’s North America correspondent, informed worried fans on Twitter that an alleged “rogue thief” attacked him on a busy Central London street in the early hours of Saturday morning. He posted a picture of a man being held by two Met Police officers and thanked officers Sgt Clark & PC Busson for helping to “catch and detain” him. At around midday today, Mr Phillips tweeted: “I was robbed, racially attacked and spat on yesterday on a busy street in central London. I’m okay. He just shook. “Thank you Sergeant Clark and P.K. Hats off to the @metpoliceuk Euston town center team for helping me catch and detain the rogue thief.’ The TV journalist received warm words from industry colleagues and fans who responded to his post. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 17-year-old man was arrested after officers were alerted to the incident in New Oxford Street at around 2.15am today. He has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and a racially aggravated public order offense and currently remains in custody. The force said the alleged robber was not injured and that they are still investigating the incident. Mr Phillips (pictured) said he was ‘robbed, racially attacked and spat at’, adding: ‘I’m fine. He remains in custody. “The man who was robbed was not injured. “Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.”
