Round 1: Haqparast in red, Makdessi in black. Feeling process from both men early. Not much landed from either man in the first 90 seconds. The crowd is a bit restless and Haqparast calms them down with a left hand. Left kick seconds later. “Bull” kicks to the leg and body. Hakparast with a quick 1-2. Makdessi doesn’t really have much of an impact landing other than some lively kicks. 10-9 Haqparast in a slow-paced round Round 2: Haqparast counters a sharp left-right kick. Body-head-body by Haqparast and Makdessi leaks near the eyebrow. John isn’t really able to land much other than the occasional throw, mostly hitting kicks that don’t land flush. Haqparast catches Makdessi coming in and drops him with a left. Makdessi recovers quickly and comes back without taking too much damage. We’re back to the original momentum of Makdessi getting forward but we can’t deal with Haqparast’s leg. Nasrat breaks a right ledge that stops Makdessi for a moment. 10-9 Right Parast Round 3: Counter left from Haqparast. Nice switch kick, too, though it wasn’t clean. 1-2 from Madesi. Red front kick, too. Big 1-1-2 from Hakparast. Haqparast catches a leg kick, punches forward with a left but doesn’t follow up when Makdessi stumbles back. Haqparast eats a left. He gets a jab in return. And a left one. Haqparast is really on his bike now. Sweet level change to blast double by Haqparast. But he cannot restrain Makdesis. John lunges forward again, but straight into another big double leg takedown. He holds on top this time until the round ends. 10-9 Right Parast Final result: Haqparast def. Makdessi via decision, Unanimous (30-27 x2, 29-28)

155 pounds: Michal Figlak vs. Fares Ziam
Round 1: Figlak with red, Ziam with black. Figlak starts aggressively and has good kicks and punches early. Ziam with a solid counter. Ziam with a big right hand that is mostly blocked by Figlak. Leg kick by Ziam. Left hook too. And a stab. Figlak with a takedown attempt, can’t get it, but Ziam can and is immediately in side control. Not good control, though, and Figlak scrambles to his feet. Back up now and it’s open. Good right to the body from Figlak. Elbow by Ziam. They tighten. 90 seconds left. Ziam tries another bodylock takedown, but Figlak has a loud whistle and gets right back up. Figlak works for one of his own, but reverses and is on top. He backs up a bit and lands an elbow that opens Figlak up, but the space allows Michal to spin for an armbar attempt. He can’t take it. 10-9 Ziam Round 2: Good exchanges from both men to start. Ziam tries another takedown, can’t get it. Back to the swing, not a very clean landing. Ziam with a blast-double, transitioning to a single… he can’t take it, but now he just picks up Figlak and throws him. Figlak tries a leg attack to get some space, can’t get him and Ziam jumps down to make sure he stays down. Ziam works from the top but can’t keep Figlak down. It rises and hovers. Right hand by Figlak, knee by Ziam. Figlak tries for another takedown, Ziam with a spinning back elbow on the break from said clinch. That swings Figlak and Ziam chases a finish. I can not understand it. Ziam tries, goes up, but can’t do anything with it before the round ends and Figlak survives. 10-9 Ziam Round 3: Great leg kick from Ziam halts Figlak’s forward momentum. He changes stance and recovers enough to land a nice hook. Figlak works to break down the fence and takes it. Ziam publishes and opens in about 5 seconds. As the commentary notes, Figlak continues to punch in the clinch. Knee by Ziam who stuffs the TD attempt again. He tries for one of his own and gets the coupon. Ziam on top in full guard with two minutes left. Figlak spins for arms, can’t get it, back to guard. Figlak spins and stands up. Ziam with a really bad shot that Figlak just backs away from and then immediately jumps on his back. Huge moment for Figlak here. Ziam is sweaty and manages to get off the back brace, but he’s still sweaty. Figlak goes hard for something, anything, but Figlak channels his inner Derrick Lewis and just beasts his way out of the mount sitting with Figlak on top of him! The time is almost here and we go to the judges. 10-9 Ziam Final result: Def. Ziam. Numbers by Decision, Unanimous (30-27 x2, 29-28)
155 pounds: Benoit St. Denis vs. Gabriel Miranda
Round 1: Huge pop for hometown St. Denis in blue, while the Brazilian, Miranda, is in black. St. Denis with a body kick almost immediately, and Miranda counters with a takedown. St. Denis reverses his position but gets up and lets Miranda up. They are moving a lot right now. St. Denis with a spinning backfist that Miranda ducks and takes him down. St. Denis manages to spin him around and he gets up. Miranda lands a few shots and St. Denis looks a bit unhinged. St. Denis counters with another spinning backfist, which Miranda counters with another takedown. Again, the fight and they come back. Now St. Denis is taken down and lands some GDP. He backs up a bit though and they stop long enough for the ref to lift them up. They swing with reckless abandon and St. Denis lands a BIG left hand that knocks Miranda down. St. Denis with some follow through and a big left hand on the ground. The pace slows down a bit, but St. Denis is still landing some good shots here on a now bloodied Miranda. Miranda creates some space and now they’re back at it again. St. Denis with another flurry of punches and Miranda swings… and down. However, the round ends before St. Denis try to terminate. 10-9 St. Denis Round 2: Well, that was academic. Miranda clearly hasn’t recovered and St. Denis knocks him out in the first exchange. Huge win for French MMA. Final result: Def. Benoit Saint-Denis. Miranda via TKO, punches
135 pounds: Khalid Taha vs. Cristian Quinonez
Round 1: Quinonez in green, Taha in gray. Quinonez takes the center but isn’t very aggressive early. Taha throws a bit, but fails to find the distance. Good leg kick from Quinoneth. Taha lifts swinging hooks forward. It fits right in. Quinonez with chilled rope poke. Quinonez with a huge…
