The air up there is not very good. A smoky skies bulletin has been issued for most of the BC Interior. The warning from the provincial government extends from 100 Mile House to the Canada-US border. The smoke is coming largely from wildfires burning in Washington and Oregon states, with some coming from the 54-hectare Blue Mountain fire near Penticton. Smoke may be billowing in some areas this afternoon as the upper low front moves into the southern interior, however, conditions are expected to persist over most areas overnight. In smoky conditions, people are advised to:

Stop or reduce your activity level if breathing becomes uncomfortable or you feel unwell. Stay cool and drink plenty of fluids. If you have asthma or another chronic illness, take any rescue (quick-acting) medicines with you and activate your personal care plan designed with your family doctor. Make sure children and others who cannot take care of themselves follow the same advice. If you experience difficulty breathing, chest pain or discomfort, or a severe cough, contact your healthcare provider, clinic, or emergency department. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.
