Trump was speaking at a Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, rally in support of Republican Senate candidate Mehmet Oz when he began talking about Mr. Fetterman, who currently leads Mr. Oz in most public polls. She said the Pennsylvania lieutenant governor – who is known for his trademark shorts and hoodie campaign outfit – dresses “like a teenager high in his parents’ basement” and called him a “rabid lunatic” who not only supports the legalization of illegal drugs but participates in them personally. “Fetterman supports taxpayer-funded drug shelters and full decriminalization of illegal drugs, including heroin, cocaine, crystal meth and the highly lethal fentanyl,” he said. “And by the way, he gets them himself.” There is no evidence that Mr Fetterman, who recently returned to the campaign trail after suffering a stroke, has ever used any of the substances Mr Trump has mentioned. In a statement, Fetterman’s campaign spokesman Joe Calvello called the former president’s claims “more and more lies from Trump and Dr. Oz.” “Another day, but it’s the same crap from these two desperate and sad blokes,” he said.
