The Weeknd had just started performing the second of his 2 sold-out concerts in Los Angeles on Saturday night when he lost his voice … and was almost in tears. SoFi Stadium was packed with 70,000 fans when, 15 minutes into the band, “Can’t Feel My Face” began to play. Thing is … the Weeknd was nowhere to be seen. Turns out he was in the background as he played the song, trying to figure out what to do because he didn’t have a voice. Something happened in the previous song — he screamed and apparently popped his vocal chords. The audience didn’t know what was going on… the song was playing and there was no Weeknd in sight. When the song was over, he came out on stage and told the crowd, “It’s killing me,” but the show had to end abruptly because he didn’t have a voice. He said, fighting back tears, “I can’t give you the concert I want to give you,” promising everyone would get their money back and reschedule it soon. The Weeknd was very apologetic and clearly emotional. This was a big part of the After Hours Til Dawn tour and he knew how much the show meant to his fans You could hear almost the entire crowd was on the Weeknd’s side, applauding him for the transparency. I can’t believe we’re here. Los Angeles… this weekend belongs to us. I felt it go and my heart dropped. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a new date.” This isn’t the first speed bump for the tour … it’s been postponed twice before due to the pandemic. His schedule is packed, with shows in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, but it’s pretty clear … he wants to do good for the LA fans STAT.
