Lisa Cash, 18, and her twin siblings Christy and Chelsea Cawley, 8, were found at a property in Rossfield Estate, Tallaght, at around 12.30pm on Sunday. They were taken to hospital in Crumlin, but were later pronounced dead. Police said their mother, in her 40s, has been released from hospital, while the victims’ 14-year-old brother remains hospitalized with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. A man in his 20s who was arrested at the scene remains in custody. Police believe all involved knew each other and described the scene as violent, provocative and traumatic. Autopsies will be performed this afternoon and tomorrow. The scene – in the west of the Irish capital – is being sealed off while forensic tests are carried out. Fianna Fail councilor Charlie O’Connor said the incident had come as a “deep shock” to the community. “People are really, really upset,” he said. “Any event like this would come as a shock, but the fact that it involves children, it’s a really shocking event for this community, and indeed for the wider community of Tallaght and elsewhere. This will affect many, many people. “I was speaking to the gardai and they told me that their colleagues who were there last night were all deeply shocked.”
