He came back out and told the audience that he had lost his voice and apologized for having to cancel. Many in the crowd reacted negatively to the news and some remained seated even after the house lights came on. The Weeknd was in the middle of his song “Can’t Feel My Face” when he decided not to continue “I’ll make sure everyone’s good, you’ll get your money back,” he told the audience in a cracking voice. “But I’ll be doing a show real soon for you guys.” The Weeknd said he wanted to apologize in person, rather than via social media. “I can’t give you what I want to give you,” he said. A statement later explained the situation. “My voice went out on the first song and I’m devastated. I felt it go and my heart dropped. My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise to make it up to you with a new date.” The nature of his condition and whether the vocal issues will affect future shows were unclear as of today. Next shows on his list include a date in Sweden and two in Toronto later this month. The Weeknd, also known as Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, will also be seen in the HBO original series The Idol, which will be released later this year. pic.twitter.com/wJ73kRWxRC — The Weeknd (@theweeknd) September 4, 2022
