Officials made the call shortly after 2:30 p.m
“Safety is of the utmost importance to the Canadian International Air Show,” a statement said. “Due to the current conditions we have canceled the safety of our artists, crews and spectators.”
“We will provide updates on the status of any future broadcasts.”

The air show was supposed to run from noon to 3 p.m. daily over the Labor Day weekend.
Alerts began appearing on social media from CIAS Toronto shortly after 12 p.m. saying the shows will go ahead as long as they meet “minimum safety requirements”. They warned then that the program could be fluid. In the following hours, performances were either canceled or put on hold amid cloudy and wet weather.
Kyle Fowler, an air show pilot who was able to take to the skies the Sunday before the cancellation, told CP24 that the weather conditions were foggy and not ideal.
“It wasn’t great,” he said. “I was lucky enough to get up in the air. I went up first to go check the weather.”
“The minimum ceiling we need is 1,000 feet. When I took off to the east, we certainly didn’t have it.’
Fowler said some of the safety margins for other aircraft are larger, meaning he was the only one able to fly from 1:30 p.m.
“I mean it’s so frustrating. We absolutely love what we do,” he said. “We like to entertain people.”
“It’s very disappointing for all of us.”
Environment Canada is predicting a 30 per cent chance of rain in Toronto on Sunday. From early morning it is mostly cloudy.
It is unclear whether fans who bought fan zone tickets will receive compensation due to the cancellations.
